The Way of a Spiritual Gangster

About the Book

"Some books explain ideas. This one moves through you."

Written from the same place that builds every Sanctuary experience — from lived wisdom, not theory. From the body, not just the mind. It's a guide for high-achievers who sense there is more available to them — more clarity, more aliveness, more meaning — and are ready to access it.

About the Author

Ian Lopatin

Ian Lopatin has been called many things: a spiritual entrepreneur, a modern-day mystic, even a "yoga rebel with a mission." But above all, he's a guide for anyone looking to live, move, and create at a higher frequency.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Ian spent 14 formative years at Cranbrook before attending Vanderbilt University and earning his law degree from UCLA. He began his career in Los Angeles as an entertainment attorney, but it wasn't long before his path began to bend toward something deeper: a lifelong exploration of energy, vibration, and the potential of human connection.

In 2000, Ian moved to Arizona and founded At One Yoga, a trailblazing chain of yoga studios that introduced music-driven classes to thousands of students. He became known for blending traditional movement with contemporary beats — teaching yoga to hip-hop and rap in sacred spaces like Machu Picchu and the Maya pyramids in Tulum, as well as major music festivals like Bonnaroo and Rothbury, where his classes drew crowds of over 3,000 and featured live accompaniment from headlining musicians.

After one class, a friend casually dubbed him a "Spiritual Gangster." The phrase struck a chord. Ian and his wife Vanessa began printing it on a handful of T-shirts at their yoga studio. Those shirts would go on to spark a global lifestyle brand — Spiritual Gangster — dedicated to inspiring higher consciousness through style, community, and intention.

Along the way, Ian has studied with spiritual teachers around the world and spent six weeks in silence at Ekam, deepening his personal practice and understanding of energetic mastery. His work continues today through Of Course Sanctuary, a modern spiritual community he co-founded to support connection, evolution, and meaningful transformation — both individually and collectively.

Ian lives in Arizona with Vanessa and their four children — Jedi, Jonah, Sierra, and Malia. He is a devoted student of life who loves to golf, ski, surf, play pickleball, travel, and experience the high vibration of live music and sports. Whether in business, on the mat, or among the community, Ian remains guided by a single mission: to raise the frequency of the planet, one moment at a time.
